The pharmacists of the North of Senegal through their organization called LEKKI (medication in the Pulaar language) have chosen PPM Senegal as the leader sponsor of their day of reflection. The event took place on October 22 at the Hayoo Hotel in Ourossogui, an important crossroads town 700 km from Dakar. It is also a city where a strong economic activity is developing as well as a zone of origin of many Senegalese from the diaspora.
The objective of PPM’s participation was to make the laboratories and the virtues of its products better known to pharmacists in this region as well as to highlight KEM Probiotics. It should be remembered that it is with these partners from the North that PPM makes the largest part of its turnover in this country.
Due to the insufficiency of health structures, most pharmacists consult in their pharmacy and are quite naturally prescribers. It is up to PPM, with its products which effectively take care of the most recurrent pathologies in this region, to better ensure that its OTC ranges meet the expectations of the local market, first thanks to their accessibility and then to the extent of the spectrum of pathologies covered.
It should also be noted that the pharmacies operate almost permanently, with patients, including some from the surrounding villages, not hesitating to come and find the pharmacists at home either for advice or to buy medicines. Another particularity of the northern region to take into consideration is that it is the one with the most immigrants and that we can see that the purchasing power there is much higher than in many other regions.
The 40 pharmacists who took part in the event, with the exception of those officiating in the host city, traveled for miles to attend this exceptional day, which was joined by pharmacists from Dakar. Among the audience was Dean Dr Mamadou Ndiadé, former president of the Order of Pharmacists of Senegal, former president of the Chamber of Commerce of Matam and holder of the El Hadj Oumar Tall pharmacy in Ourossogui. He is currently the President of “Lekki”.
After a presentation of the company and of Dr Hay Ly Eang, its founder, the different ranges were detailed before a focus on Kem Probiotics, which was the subject of a test with the audience. This session was very interactive and enriching with a very high participation and very interesting testimonials on the contribution of PPM laboratories in the supply of medicines in this region. PPM’s efforts to make new packaging available, including B Vit fort CP B/20, Panol CP B/20, Rhinex Cp B/20, and the focus on packaging security were particularly commended.
